Department of Paediatrics
1. About Department :
Department of pediatrics had been established since 2005. 1st UG batch passed out in 2009. Postgraduation course started in 2011, and we got 1 MD SEAT which was increased to 4 in 2015. All the 4 MD SEATS got MCI recognized in 2019 . MD seats were increased to 6 in 2020.At present out of 6 MD seats, 4 are MCI recognized and 2 seats are MCI permitted.
At present, there are 3 working units in pediatric department. The faculties and residents are working at OPD, PEDIATRIC WARD, PICU AND NICU level .we are running fully equipped 10 bedded PICU, were there is almost 80 % occupied beds throughout the year. We are having 90 beds in pediatrics wards.
We have immunization clinics on every day in addition to routine opds. Various pediatrics speciality clinics are run in ped opd like Thalassemia clinics, high risk clinics, Infectious disease clinics, hematology clinics, nephrology, pediatrics cardiology, Epilepsy clinics, child guidance clinics and gastrointestinalogy clinics.
We are having 2 peripheral health care centres at Turchi and sangalwadi.We are having 12 bedded NICU with level 3 care facility and 8 bedded step down nursery.Faculties of pediatrics Department in total have around 40 publications on credit and 3 research projects ongoing. There are 7 case reports and 3 chapters in 3 different books by our faculty.Department of pediatrics had arranged 8 CMES, 10 WORK SHOPS, 2 quiz And 1 state level conferences, mahaneocon at 2014.
The faculties of pediatrics Department are actively involved in research and academic activities, at national and state level pediatrics conferences as faculty. Dr sara dhanawade, professor of pediatrics, is working as medical superintendent of Bharati hospital and had also recieved most prestigious award of best teacher at Bharati University pune in 2016.
The future plans of our department are skill lab development, and starting PICU and NICU fellowship programs.

3. Staff info :
At present, pediatric department is having 2 professors, 2 Associate professor, 2 Assistant professor, 6 SRs and 14 JRs.we are short of 3 Assistant professor.
