INTRODUCTION:
The Department of Nephrology was established in BVUMC&H Sangli in 2011. The department has qualified and experienced faculty members as per NMC norms. At present, Prof. Dr.Bipin Munjappa is the Head of the Department. Staff pattern of Nephrology department is as per NMC Standard.Nephrology services were inadequate in this part of state. People need to travel to other place for kidney diseases. There was a need of all nephrology service for both adult &Pediatric Patients.
•Consultations
As the department of Nephrology is part of general hospital, it provides consultation liaison services to other medical branches in–patients on consultation request from the concerned departments.
•Emergency Nephrology Services
Emergency Nephrology services are provided for 24 hours. These services are available to out–patients (causality dept) and in-patients admitted in wards, ICU as interdepartmental emergency consultations
•Kidney Transplant
Department of Nephrology encourages Kidney Transplant for the patients suffering from end stage kidney disease. This department is recognized for both live & declared donor Kidney Transplantation. This is a government authorized cadaveric donor organ retrieval centre. Up till now Five kidney transplants has been carried out successfully.
